The Initiative

Chagas disease is one of the most neglected tropical diseases worldwide, affecting over 300,000 individuals in the United States and 8-10 million worldwide.

It is a disease that can affect the heart and intestines, killing up to one fourth to one third of the people it infects.

​

Strong Hearts is committed to raising awareness about Chagas disease and establishing screening and treatment protocols in Massachusetts that can eventually be applied broadly in the United States.
